BlueZZ Fest is a spontaneous civic initiative, which first activities were in the autumn of 2004 within the "Autumn Days of Arts and Culture ", organized by the Municipality of Rousse.

The inspiration of its establishers and helpers and donors – Bulgarian musicians and local businessmen – should be looked for in the recent past of Rousse, when it was recognized as town of European spirits, based not only upon its architectural and historical sites and its geopolitical location but also on its prestigious presence in the national and international cultural calendar.

Since its first show, the BlueZZ Fest gave a serious application – for resurrecting the memory of the glorious past of Rousse jazz, but also to turn this activity into annual national feast of musicians and this genre fans. The expectations of the establishers have been exceeded for sure – their efforts to gather the best Bulgarian jazz and rock performers and blues bands within just two days turned to be rewarded several times – having in mind the overcrowded hall, the enthusiastic audience, which consisted of mainly young people.

Although the first BlueZZ Fest Rousse’ 2004 was organized with much enthusiasm than with due funding, it fulfilled successfully its mission:
• It demonstrated that there is potential existing for one more significant feast to be included in Rousse traditional cultural calendar – availability of traditional audience; joining of new generations to the genre’s fans as well as to the Rousse jazz performers, mainly from the students of the National Arts High School "Professor Veselin Stoianov"; Civil association BlueZZ Fest established with the aim of restoring and developing this cultural tradition;
• To give the unique opportunity of representatives of both streams – jazz and rock – to meet on one and the same stage - BlueZZ Fest is an art fact, through which Rousse can gain back its proper place within cultural life;
• It proved there is friendly environment and capacity for development of the activity turning into annual accent of our cultural placard – Rousse jazz performers of national and international significance as the motor of various initiatives /Jazz studio Rousse, etc./; series of monthly club jazz-sessions with guest-performers from all over the country and abroad;
• Demonstrates possibilities to go beyond the frames of the national and regional significance – the participation of Yildiz Ibrahimova and of Bankrut Blues Band from Skopje, Macedonia and only the lack of funds would be an obstacle for festival’s development in that aspect;

In 2005 the non-profitable civil association BlueZZ Fest, which counts around 20 local businessmen and musicians of national and international significance such as Teodosii Spasov, Petar Salchev, Staiko Staikov, Plamen Stavrev, Angel Zaberski, Ivailo Kraichovski, put in front the goal of not only repeating the last year's success but to hint its future development.
